Additional text in Transcription.

Shortened foreword to Scarface now reads: This picture was conceived as the first true portrayal of a new antisocial element the gangster a record of his brutal lawlessness. Its story is woven from actual incidents taken directly from the news columns of our daily papers. Its purpose is to arouse the American public to the need of depriving the hoodlum of the weapons with which he indiscriminately murders men women and children. In Scarface by depicting the truth it is hoped that every citizen will realize the necessity of demanding the enactment of national statutes which will enable the police to take form the gangster the means by which he prolongs his menace - the gun."
