Advertising - bad

Wilstach complains to Botsford about advertising for Fast and Loose. Holman replies claiming that Paramount advertising is cleaner than most. Paramount advertising is "by far the cleanest in this business." Fox and Warner Bros. put stuff regularly in their ads that we would not dream of using. When I look at book ads, passed without question by the New York Times and other papers with high standards, cosmetic ads and other types of advertising that get into our best magazines, I frankly think sometimes our stuff is too clean." Wilstach responds. Noting the existing agreement "to cut out the horizontal clinch, or to be plain, pictures of a woman lying on her back with a man on top of her." Noting complaints by "one of Mrs. McGoldrick's lieutenants in Philadelphia" about an advert for The Virtuous Sin.
