Sound pictures - interchange of apparatus

Several distributors refuse to supply foreign exhibitors not using Western Electric sound equipment; claim this saves movies from damage by inferior equipment. Result: simultaneously U.S. movies are losing foreign markets and, especially, rival sound equipment suppliers are losing contracts. RCA-Photophone and Powers Cinephone call for urgent action. MPPDA not too concerned. Ultimately "interchangeability" with RCA seems to be assured, but smaller companies like Powers are left out in the cold.
