Welford Beaton, editor of Film Spectator of Hollywood, has spoken before a Women's Clubs Convention at Santa Cruz, attacking the MPPDA and Hays in particular. Mrs Littlewood's action of inviting him in the first place is seen as a hostile act by the MPPDA, and Mrs Diehl is informed that friendly relations will be impossible until Littlewood is "suppressed and eliminated." In correspondence to Littlewood, Diehl insists on the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC)'s independence of the MPPDA.
