Woman Marches On

Documents relating to the production of Woman Marches On, aka Women's Progress, aka Rising Woman, a newsreel compilation produced by De Bra, and distributed through the General Federation of Women's Clubs. Trotti wrote the story, which was approved by Milliken. Material contains correspondence discussing what would be included, lists of newsreels, and some complications with Mrs. Ambrose Diehl and her unhelpful public statements.

Long Description:

DeBra attempts to produce, through Kinogram, seven short Public Relations films of women's colleges: "the mere presence of a representative of the motion picture industry on these campuses ... cannot but have a valuable reaction on their attitude toward motion pictures generally" -- and at the same time to make an ambitious documentary on Women's Progress to promote relations with the women's clubs. Costs escalate, promises and appointments are broken, deadlines are not met, etc. However the Women's Progress film is eventually good enough for Wilkinson to advise Hays to turn out for its opening night. File also includes a compendium of newsreel footage dealing with achievements of women.
