- Books and Plays Formula
A new, more flexible system for treating controversial source material is being worked out. The new formula allows the material to be returned to the author for reworking and retitling. The new version may be approved, providing it is not deliberately linked with the old source. The final form of the formula follows, in a pamphlet sent to various authors' guilds. Also included are copies of MPPDA resolutions related to this issue, going back to 1924.

Long Description:
The Revised Formula -- 09-10-1927 -- in draft. The first formula addressed the question raised by some of the Committee on Public Relations (CPR), about changes in books. Final version printed 12-15-1927. NB note from Julia Kelly that on 11-14-1927 Hays etc. had met with Author's League people, and had, among other things "read to them Dr. Simon's reports of 'Crime' and 'Underworld'".
