Apparently Russell has sought the opinions of editors on motion picture advertising. Marshall's letter deplores scandalous ads on the grounds that they are offensive to the majority and will lead to censorship. He draws attention to a Presbyterian church movement for rigid national censorship, and predicts that "Cleanliness in pictures will come, either through the pressure of [the moral] element or through the producers themselves."
