Joy and Wilstach correspondence, October 28: Wilstach wants to know why a Syracuse paper should have suggested the MPPDA was asking studios not to produce crime pictures. Joy replies that it probably came from Variety, which in turn had probably seen a report of the Sept 13 meeting of the SRC: "You will be interested to know that very few, if any, so-called crime pictures are now being produced by our companies; and I know of none which is contemplating any for the immediate future. The reason for this change in program results partly from the protests which have come from responsible sources and partly because the fans have become satiated with the subject."
