Press clippings on Joy's trips round censor boards include the claim that Joy's work saved the studios $3.5m in production costs last year, and 20% of the United States is under censorship, and 64% "of the territory has increased censorship restrictions." -- hard to know what that means. Also that 56 American-made productions were banned abroad out of a total of 94 banned. Joy's job, 08-08-1928, is described as "to save producers several millions yearly by advising them as to just what is permissible and what will be eliminated." One article headlined "Ask Censors to Go Easy; Public First, Say Producers."
