Agreement that contests tend to lower admission prices, and that they should be eliminated. However, contests are responsible for 50% of newspaper coverage of theatres and "owing to present competitive conditions, this type of activity is an essential factor in all types of merchandising" -- motion picture industry should be as free to use it as banks, department stores -- so NRA Code should only prohibit contest requiring ticket purchase.Prohibiting the running of contests that require patrons to purchase an admission ticket in order to enter. Contest running does generate large advertising revenue so only this form of context is targeted.
