In 1920 Courtland Smith was president of the American Press Association, a syndicate for country newspapers, and an associate of Will Hays in the Republican Party campaign of 1920. He went to Washington in 1921 as Assistant Postmaster General in Will Hays’ administration of the Post Office, and left with Hays to become the first Vice-President and Secretary of the MPPDA. He left the MPPDA in 1925 to become Vice President of Fox Film Corporation, where he developed Fox Movietone News. In the 1930s he was ran the Trans-Lux Theaters and then became president of Pathé News, Inc., which he expanded throughout the world. 1884 – 1970.
