Harold B Franklin


Producer and Theatre executive. Beginning as a vaudeville booking agent, he became a theatre manager in 1914. He joined Famous Players-Lasky and became vice-president of Publix Theatres, then moved to becomes, president of Fox West Coast Theatres, then president of Hughes Franklin Theatres. He resigned to become an executive in an advisory capacity at RKO, and then president of the Keith Albee Orpheum circuit and then the RKO circuit. He resigned in 1933 to form Frankwyn Productions with Edgar Selwyn, to produce stage plays, and became president of Standard Theatres, Inc. In 1935 he joined Columbia as a production executive staff but resigned soon afterwards. In 1938 he managed the "Motion Pictures' Greatest Year" campaign. Author of two books, Motion Picture Theatre Management and Sound Motion Pictures.
