Lasky says he wants to improve pictures, as shown by The Power and the Glory. "I am proud to refer you to my record throughout the years in this respect. I believe in clean pictures, made within the bounds of good taste."Lasky had already changed script of The Power and the Glory to remove the "dangerous situation" between the son and his stepmother before Hays 6 March 1933 letter to Kent. "There will be no relaxation in production standards and I am prepared to strictly adhere to the spirit of the Producers Code ...I am proud to refer you to my record ... even if I had different ideas, Sidney Kent would never stand for our deliberately breaching the Code'
