Kent, replying to Hays letter of 17 August 1932 and recent Production Code correspondence: "there is a great feeling in the industry, and outside of it, that the Metro people especially are on a campaign to ruin this business -- with the very salacious and strong product they are making. Hays, in reply, 26 August 1932: "I agree that more than letter writing is necessary. The letters, of course, are just the echoes of work being done which I hope will have the effect you desire. I will talk this over with you in detail when I see you. It was for this as well as the Colonel Joy matter that I hoped our visits might overlap. What do you think should be done other than is being done?"

Long Description:

Kent, replying to Hays letter of 17 August -1932 and recent Production Code correspondence "It seems to me that the industry is headed to the edge of a very dangerous precipice. There is a great feeling in the industry, and outside of it, that the Metro people especially are on a campaign to ruin this business -- with the very salacious and strong product that are making. Either the bars must be let down for everybody, or this company will have to be stopped ... "... I do believe that some very strong action other than letters and talking is going to be necessary, soon on your part, if you are going to vindicate that for which the Association was formed."
