David O. Selznick directed a film partly set in Princeton with full cooperation and approval of college authorities. When finished they hated it and wanted it withdrawn, pointing out the good will Paramount would get if they were public-spirited enough to take it off. Lasky agreed to "discontinue all distribution in the United States of the picture entitled Varsity, from 1 February 1929 at the latest, excepting ... any individual cases in which litigation may arise" (good will AND distribution?)
