Influence of screen

DeBra on "Life and Death in Sing Sing," by Warden Lawes containing an accusation that movies and the press stimulate criminal behaviour. He comments, "Personally, I agree with Warden Lawes that insofar as the motion picture displays before its public luxuries of life which the majority of that public is not able to enjoy, it supplies an incentive to crime. By the same token ... it supplies an incentive to constructive endeavor which is in a large measure responsible for the economic prosperity of this country."
