Frank Gilmore of Actors' Equity has been taking a tough line over actors' rights, accusing Hays of indifference, and has threatened "to compel the high and mighty to recognize the actor who is the backbone of the industry, etc." Beetson lists various specific ways that AMPP has accommodated the actor; but his main purpose in writing is to ask for advice on how to deal with Gilmore. A hand-written note in the margin says, "Mr Hays telephoned Beetson -- not to worry about Gilmore now etc. 06-25-1925."
