- EDITORIAL COMMENT:Â NB here, together with Hays comments to CPR, on the sweeping nature of what was being proposed - effectively one decision on dubious content was to be taken as final - evidence, perhaps, of a genuine belief that there was a consensus on what was acceptable and what was not.
Concerns initiation of MPPDA assessment of literary material. Resolved that each member of this organization instruct its reading department to forward to this organization beginning March 1st 1924 a copy of the synopsis when made of each play book and story read by such department and that all readers be requested to append to each such synopsis their respective opinions of the material synopsized with respect to any objectionable theme or matter if any contained in such material.

AMPP. 1924. Concerning MPPDA assessment of literary material: February 26, 1924. Fred W Beetson 6912 Hollywood Blvd Hollywood Cal. Will you please make sure that you have signatures of all your members to your magna carta and that included in the list of signatures are those of directors scenario writers and other persons responsible for the kind of pictures produced stop Confidentially and not for publication at directors meeting this afternoon following resolution was unanimously adopted quote resolved that each member of this organization instruct its reading department to forward to this organization beginning March first nineteen twenty four a copy of the synopsis when made of each play book and story read by such department and that all readers be requested to append to each such synopsis their respective opinions of the material synopsized with respect to any objectionable theme or matter if any contained in such material period resolved further that the officers of the association be and they are hereby requested to advise the members of our association of any objectionable play book or story theme or matter that has come to the notice of the association end quote stop Regards CS
